The purpose of this article is to warn those wishing to practice field philosophy to exercise caution. To do this, we identify three conceptual distinctions inherited from the history of philosophy which, in our view, interfere with the work of the philosopher in the field. The sedimentation of these distinctions into dualisms, operating between the universal and the local, the analysis of the laboratory and the collection of fieldwork, or critical knowledge and alienating habits are as many dangers for the field philosophy project.
